Local Information

There is a bus service which operates on an hourly basis and runs from Ventnor to Newport, where you can get connections to anywhere on the Island! The bus stop is directly opposite The Old Rectory. For timetables and more information, visit Southern Vectis

Travelling to the Island

You can easily catch a ferry or hovercraft to the island from any of the following: Southsea, Portsmouth, Southampton and Lymington.

Wightlink run vehicle ferries crossing from Portsmouth to Fishbourne, and also from Lymington to Yarmouth. If you are travelling by foot then there is also a fast passenger service from Portsmouth Harbour bringing you to Ryde Pier head.

Red Funnel run both a vehicle and fast passenger service from Southampton. The vehicle ferry arrives in East Cowes and the Red Jet (passenger crossing) arrives in Cowes.

Hovertravel run a hovercraft service for foot passengers from Southsea seafront to Ryde.
